Propaganda Bistro
Finding vegetarian food while on holiday is less of a chore thanks to the wonders of the internet. The internet came in handy when I took a solo trip to the economic centre of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City (Or Saigon, as it was formerly known). I ended up making a new friend in Saigon, and the two of us ended up exploring the city together. We spent the morning at the Independence Palace and soon afterwards we were looking for some food. I read about this bistro called Propaganda, offering a modern take on Vietnamese classics. Propaganda had a bright and inviting décor with a contemporary street art style.
We started with some Vietnamese spring rolls with tofu, pickled carrot and lemongrass, served with a sweet chilli sauce that complemented the flavours quite nicely. I ordered one of the many craft beers available in this city to complete the meal. My main course was a vegetarian Banh Mi, topped with pickled veggies and a spring onion omelette instead of the traditional meat filling. My Banh Mi came with a beautiful spicy chilli sauce accompaniment. My friend and I were too full to experience dessert.

On the whole, the great food, reasonable price, and the restaurant’s proximity to the Independence Palace, war museum, and the famous post office make it an ideal tour stop. My only complaint is that there was no vegetarian pho for me to sample
Where ever your travels take you, I hope there’s fantastic food along the way.
